Lori is a Vision Care Coordinator at Valley Vision Optometry, where she is dedicated to helping patients feel supported, informed, and cared for throughout their eye care journey.
Born and raised in Fort St. John, British Columbia, Lori grew up with a strong curiosity for how things work and a passion for understanding the natural world. As a child, she aspired to become a scientist, a path that ultimately reflects her real-life career direction.
Outside of work, Lori enjoys a grounded and nature-focused lifestyle. She shares her home with her girlfriend and their Australian Shepherd, Taako. In her spare time, she enjoys foraging, gardening, and exploring the outdoors with her dog.
Lori completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Northern British Columbia and later pursued a Certificate in Adult Education from Vancouver Community College. Her academic background in science has provided her with strong analytical thinking skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of structured learning and communication—skills she applies daily in patient care coordination and education. Her additional training in adult education has further strengthened her ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients of all backgrounds.
She was drawn to Valley Vision Optometry because of its values-driven approach and commitment to patient-centered care. She appreciates being part of a team where the focus is on making a meaningful difference in patients’ lives.
Lori finds the most rewarding part of her role is knowing that she helps make a tangible improvement in someone’s day through compassionate support and clear guidance. She describes her biggest contribution to the team as her positive reinforcement approach and sense of whimsy, which helps create a welcoming and reassuring environment for both patients and staff.
Like many healthcare environments, challenges can arise in balancing workflow demands and patient needs. Lori continues to focus on communication and adaptability as key tools for improving efficiency and team collaboration.
Her advice to anyone considering joining the team is to stay open-minded, embrace learning opportunities, and bring positivity into every interaction.
