After living in Waterloo, Ontario and Northern BC for the last several years, Dr. Morgan Jackson is ecstatic to once again call Vancouver Island home. She was born and raised in Victoria, BC where she attended the University of Victoria's Kinesiology program. It was here that Dr. Jackson became interested in a multidisciplinary approach to learning about and caring for the human body. During her undergraduate years, she worked as a server, a lifeguard, and as a swimming instructor. At the swimming pool, Dr. Jackson developed the skills that she uses today in infant, child, and adapted eye exams.

Morgan went on to graduate in the class of 2020 from the University of Waterloo's School of Optometry and Vision Science, where she served as President of the Waterloo sVOSH Chapter (student Optometric Services to Humanity). Through this role, Dr. Jackson was able to organize and provide care on several outreach clinics including those in Ethiolo and Kedougou, Senegal; Montego Bay, Jamaica; long term care residences in both Ontario and BC; and marginalized communities in Hamilton, Ontario. This is really when Dr. Jackson realized her passion for outreach Optometry. In the future, she hopes to participate in similar outreach programs by collaborating with Vancouver Island communities who do not have reasonable access to eye care. Upon graduating, Dr. Jackson received the Karen Tompa Nowy Memorial Award for excellence in patient care (recipients have shown exceptional care and concern for patients, have advocated for advanced eye care treatments and / or have taken steps to improve the overall health and well-being of patients). She uses creative examination techniques to ensure that her patients of every age and ability receive the highest possible level of care

Dr. Jackson was lucky enough to spend 4 months with Valley Vision Optometry as a student Doctor in 2019. She is thrilled to be back as an associate Optometrist. She takes a patient-centred approach to care and will work with you to find solutions that fit your lifestyle, priorities, and goals. You can expect to leave your exam with Dr. Jackson with a thorough understanding of your ocular health status, visual system function, and clear recommendations on how to maximize and protect both.

When Dr. Jackson isn't looking at your eyes, she can be found enjoying craft beers, cooking delicious food, and hiking or camping with her husband and two dogs (Frankie, the Cuddly German Shepherd and Rhea, the Sassy Husky). She has been lucky enough to backpack throughout Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia over the years. Morgan's first language is English but can speak and perform an eye exam in French, and has beginner level Spanish. She also loves to garden, read, and practice yoga.

Dr. Jackson can't wait to meet you and your eyes!
